Ugni molinae is an evergreen shrub, which grows from 30 cm to 170 cm tall and produces red berries fruits. Native to Chile and southern Argentina, it bears small fruits (about 1 cm diameter ). If cultivated in its natural habitat, the fruit usually matures in autumn from March to May.

Benefits for health

  • Murta berry have been used in folk medicine in Chile to treat conditions such as diarrhea and urinary tract pain. The Mapuche also use them for a variety of conditions such as ulcers, hemorrhoids, fever, tumors kidney pains, lesions, migraines and scars.
  • More recently, studies have confirmed that they contain antioxidants. Antioxidants compounds of the fruit seem to have a number of health benefits, such as reducing the risk of some cancers and cardiovascular diseases. They also seems to reduce risk of gastric and duodenal ulcers. Murta berries are good alternative to maqui berries if you want to alternate from time to time.
  • Finally, murta berries also have anti-microbial properties, which might explain why they are recommended during winter, to reduce risk of viral and bacterial infections.

Most products are shipped on the next day. Some products that we do not sell frequently (such as essential oils in bottles of 10mL or 30mL) require an extra day. This is due to the fact that they are made to order by the manufacturer, so that you get the freshest product possible.

Pick-up in Santiago

We are an online retailer. Therefore, the address mentioned at the bottom of the website is not a shop and no products are sold there.

However, free delivery is possible near station Tobalaba. We are usually available for our clients on Tuesday and Thursday between 6:00pm and 7:30pm, and on Wednesday and Friday between 1:30pm and 3pm.

You must first confirm and pay your order online. We will then send you an email when your order is ready (usually the next day), so that you can come to pick your order.
